Optimize your presentation for a specific browser
You can help assure that your online presentation is
accessible by users with the most popular browsers
when you optimize your presentation for specific
browsers. You can accomplish this by selecting
browser brands and versions that you want to make
sure your presentation works well with.
Options include Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or
later and Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later. Default
Web presentations are optimized for Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.0 or later because the majority of
Internet browsers fall in this category. However, if
you are creating a presentation for use within your
company and your company is standardized on
Microsoft Office 2007 programs like PowerPoint 2007,
you can instead choose to create presentations for
Internet Explorer 6.0 or later because Office 2007
supports it. Conversely, if you are creating a Web
presentation for use on the Internet, you may want
to optimize your presentation for both Internet
Explorer 4.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.0 or later to
make your presentation viewable by a broad array of
users with a variety of Web browsers.
1 Click the Office button.
2 Click Save As.
The Save As dialog box appears.
3 Navigate to the folder in which
you want to save the online
presentation.
4 Click here and select either Single
File Web Page or Web Page.
5 Click Publish.
The Publish as Web
Page dialog box
appears.
6 Click Web Options.
The Web Options dialog box appears.
7 Click the Browsers tab.
8 Click here and select the browser you
want to use.
9 Click OK.
0 Click Publish.
The presentation is published optimized
for the chosen browser or browser
combination.
Caution!
Online presentation files get larger as more browser
brands and versions are supported because additional
code is necessary to support features in older
browsers. Be conservative in the range of browsers
for which you choose to optimize your presentation.
Optimizing your presentation for Internet Explorer 6.0
creates the smallest and fastest-to-load file size.
Conversely, presentations optimized for Internet
Explorer 3.0 and Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later
create larger files that load more slowly.
Caution!
Not all features in your presentation work on all
browser brands and versions. For example, some
slide transitions and animations do not work on older
browser versions.
