In the Philippines, many people still adhere to conservatism wherein sex before marriage is unacceptable and in some extreme cases, lead to estrangement from their conservative families. I know Multiply.com started out here as a social network like Orkyut where you can easily upload tons of pictures in an album to share with your contacts. I know many schoolmates who shifted to Multiply after being in Friendster back in 2004. Multiply was a good choice compared to Friendster because it offered a mass upload option (which is really a must for college students who upload quite a lot of group pictures), and a much easier profile + album + blog integration.
