In the Philippines, many people still adhere to conservatism wherein sex before marriage is unacceptable and in some extreme cases, lead to estrangement from their conservative families. I won’t be picking sides today since I myself is torn in between. It is normal for individuals to have sexual needs and inclinations, though acting on it is another thing.

I brought this issue up because I was having a discussion with a friend who will remain anonymous for private reasons. Our conversations led us to wondering, on when people started to put sex before commitment. In the normal course of ABC’s, C naturally comes before S, but with the case of younger generations, the order of letters have shifted differently.

If a guy asked you to have sex with him before committing to you in a relationship, what would you do? A natural reaction for Pinays raised in conservative families would be to think the guy wasn’t serious enough to commit to her first before asking for sex. Thus leading me to the our question,

How does one justify the need for sex before committing in a relationship?

Guy A told Girl A,

“How would you know if I was the one if you wont have sex with me first?“

I was confused with the logic behind the statement (if there is even one).

Does sex speak for the future of a persons commitment? So if a girl or guy was lousy in bed, does that mean he or she wasn’t willing to commit in a relationship?

Girl A is confused with Guy A‘s actions but she doesn’t give in. She wants the relationship and is ready for commitment, just not having sex yet. She’s dead set on staying a virgin until she gets married. Guy A keeps bugging her but she wont say, “Yes”, so he keeps her at bay, and contacts her every now and then to try and bait her into having sex with him before committing into the relationship.

Now tell me, if you were in my shoes, what advice would you tell Girl A?

Sex is controversial by nature and like what many people say, sex indeed sells. In my other blog, I joined a Pinay Scandal SEO activity wherein bloggers experimented on the utilization of various keywords that internet users usually use when searching in Google, Yahoo, MSN and the other search engines.

The goal was not to really provide sex and pinay scandal videos, images and dvd downloads to these searches but to help curb the bad links, images and videos that were stereotyping many pinays. It was partially based from another SEO contest, which is the “Filipina Writing Project“, wherein the goal was to improve the search engine results of the word Filipina. I joined the contest with my entry, “Are you just a Filipina“, because I believe that the project’s cause was beneficial not only to the searchers but to Filipinas as well. It helped give relevant search engine results about Filipinas by helping good clean sites make it into the top rankings of Google, Yahoo and MSN SERPs.

Based from the use of pinay scandals, my blog generated some organic traffic and many of the other participating blogs were able to rank in the first few pages of the the SERPs. I also got traffic from various variations of keywords related to pinay scandals such as free pinay scandals, filipina scandals and pinay video scandals. It can be funny reading some of the weird words people use to find your blog in the search engines such as penay scandal and pinay vedios. Sure the wrong spellings and typographical errors can be funny but once you think about it, its not so funny anymore. Seeing the various play of words and the content or thought behind these variations can be shocking if not insulting. It shows how much sex really sells and how much people think of pinays when they search the internet.

Though its a compliment for pinays to be thought of as sexy, the disrespect sets in when one starts to comprehend the insulting and at times degrading idea behind the keywords used. Though this is a problem for women around the world who are discriminated against and not only to Pinays, I am biased simply because I am a Pinay and those keywords affect me. Sure Pinay’s are sexy, but it doesn’t stop there. Pinay’s are women who are made up of different and unique individuals with their own personalities.

Don’t just lump us into one mold where sex is the word you’d think of when you hear the word Pinay.
